A mouthwatering dish featuring crispy chicken pieces coated in a flavorful seasoning mix, perfect as an appetizer or main dish.

  • 1 lb chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • Oil for frying
  • Sliced green onions and fresh chili for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces, about 1-2 inches each.
  2. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, white pepper, and five-spice powder.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and cold water.
  5. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then roll it in the seasoning mixture.
  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
  7. Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches.
  8. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  9. Transfer the chicken to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  10. Garnish the crispy chicken with sliced green onions and fresh chili.
