  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add in the egg, food coloring, and vanilla extract, then mix well.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Create the filling by blending the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  7. Shape a tablespoon of dough, make an indent, fill with cream cheese, and seal with more dough.
  8. Arrange cookie dough balls on a baking sheet, spacing them two inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For soft cookies, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
