  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, food coloring, and vanilla extract, then mix well.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully incorporated.
  6. Create the filling by blending the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  7. Shape a tablespoon of dough, make an indent, add the cream cheese filling, and cover with more dough.
  8. Arrange the cookie dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them two inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and centers remain soft.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
