A delightful and comforting dish featuring runny eggs nestled in rich tomato sauce, topped with melted cheese.

  • 2 cups rich tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or parmesan)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering and fragrant.
  3. Add the rich tomato sauce along with dried oregano and basil; let it simmer on low for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Create small wells in the simmering sauce and gently crack an egg into each well.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the eggs and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes.
