  • 1 box red velvet cake mix
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. Combine the red velvet cake mix, vegetable oil, and eggs in a large mixing bowl; stir until smooth.
  3. Spread half of the red velvet batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  4. Beat together softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla in another bowl until smooth, then mix in flour.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the red velvet layer.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter on top and create a marbled effect with a knife.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top, if desired.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
