Recreate the classic Twinkie in your kitchen with this delightful homemade recipe, featuring a soft cake and sweet whipped cream filling.

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • For the filling:
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your Twinkie pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time with vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared Twinkie pan, filling each cavity halfway, and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Cool the cakes in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  8. Inject the whipped cream into the center of each cooled cake.
