Rich and velvety homemade caramel sauce perfect for drizzling over desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat until golden, stirring constantly.
  2. Stir in the butter until fully combined; the mixture will bubble.
  3. Add the heavy cream slowly while stirring to achieve a smooth sauce.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  5. Cool to room temperature, then store in an airtight container.

Notes

Keep a close eye on the sugar while melting to avoid burning it. If the caramel seizes when cream is added, continue stirring and it will smooth out.
