Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup hot honey
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, around 7-8 minutes.
  4. Stir in the ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to incorporate the spices into the meat.
  5. Add the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine.
  6. Pour in the hot honey and mix well, allowing the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly, approximately 3 minutes.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for an additional 5 minutes, ensuring the beef is fully cooked through and the flavors are well infused.
  8. To assemble the bowl, place a serving of cooked rice at the bottom. Top with the hot honey ground beef mixture, followed by cherry tomatoes, avocado slices, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.
  9. Serve with lime wedges on the side for a fresh citrus burst and extra flavor.
