Delicious fried cinnamon apple rings that capture the essence of autumn with a sweet and spicy flavor profile.

Ingredients

  • 2–3 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk (adjust as needed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar coating)
  • 1–2 tsp ground cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by slicing them into rings and removing the cores.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl until well-blended.
  3. Whisk the wet ingredients in another bowl.
  4. Combine the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Dip each apple ring into the batter and fry in the hot oil.
  7. Prepare the cinnamon sugar coating in a separate bowl.
  8. Coat the fried rings in the cinnamon sugar while they’re still hot.
  9. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce.

Notes

These apple rings are best served warm and can be paired with ice cream or caramel sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
