  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese (for frosting, optional)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for frosting, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for frosting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Combine the wet ingredients in a separate bowl: warm milk, melted butter, and egg until smooth.
  3. Blend the wet and dry ingredients together, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  7. Spread melted butter over the dough and sprinkle with granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Shape the rolled dough into a log and cut into 1-inch pieces.
  9. Second rise: place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Finish with frosting by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding chocolate chips or fruits to the filling.
