A classic Italian dish featuring crispy chicken breasts, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Flatten the chicken breasts to an even thickness of about ½ inch using a meat mallet.
  3. Mix breadcrumbs with Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Beat the egg in a separate bowl until well combined.
  5. Dip each chicken breast into the egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the chicken until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  7. Assemble the dish in a baking dish with a layer of marinara sauce, place chicken on top, cover with more sauce and mozzarella.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil and serve.

Notes

This Chicken Parmesan pairs well with spaghetti or a fresh salad. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
