  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for caramelized topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until a dough forms.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden.
  8. Sprinkle granulated sugar on top, then caramelize using a kitchen torch.
  9. Allow to cool for a few moments before enjoying.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze unbaked dough in a log shape.
