A comforting and zesty dish featuring tender chicken, bowtie pasta, and vibrant broccoli, all wrapped in a creamy butter sauce with lemon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
  • 12 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the bowtie pasta. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente. About five minutes before the pasta is done, add in the broccoli florets, allowing them to blanch and soften slightly. Reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, season the bite-sized chicken pieces generously with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through, approximately 6-8 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Let it melt, then sauté the minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes (if using) until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in the Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and zest. Mix well, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  4. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and add the reserved pasta water. Toss in the cooked bowtie pasta and broccoli, gently mixing everything to coat. Add the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until everything is well combined and creamy. Garnish with fresh parsley and chives, and serve with extra Parmesan on top if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For reheating, use a skillet or microwave gradually.
