Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter until liquid and stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar.
  3. Add 4 large eggs to the mixture one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. Mix together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add it to the wet ingredients.
  6. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Melt 8 ounces of semisweet chocolate using a double boiler.
  9. Whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 1/2 cup of powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  10. Fold the cooled chocolate into the whipped cream to create mousse.
  11. Chill the brownies completely before spreading the mousse on top.
  12. Drizzle melted chocolate ganache on top before serving.
  13. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

For extra fudge-like brownies, slightly underbake. Allowing the mousse to cool before folding is crucial for texture.
