Chocolate Fudge Caramel Brownies

Decadent brownies with chewy, fudgy layers and a luscious caramel surprise.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup soft caramel candies or caramel sauce
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • Sea salt flakes (optional)
  • Chocolate chips or chunks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar and vanilla extract.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the wet mixture.
  5. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Heat the caramel candies and heavy cream in a small saucepan until melted and smooth. Pour over the brownie batter.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter over the caramel layer and gently spread to cover.
  8. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes and optional chocolate chips.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  10. Cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store in an airtight container.
