Instructions

  1. Sautéing the Onions: Begin by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the butter is bubbly and beginning to brown, add the thinly sliced onions. Sauté them patiently, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and beautifully caramelized, which should take around 10-15 minutes.
  2. Rinsing the Rice: While the onions are caramelizing, rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This process helps remove excess starch, ensuring that the rice turns out fluffy instead of sticky.
  3. Combining Ingredients: Once the onions are ready and heavenly fragrant, add the rinsed rice to the saucepan. Gently stir the mixture to evenly distribute the onions and let them meld with the rice.
  4. Adding Liquid: Now it’s time to pour in the water or broth. Season this mixture with salt and pepper according to your tastes.
  5. Simmering to Perfection: Bring the mixture to a rolling boil. Once it’s boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice absorbs all the delicious flavors and becomes tender.
