A modern twist on classic apple pie, these crispy egg rolls are filled with sweet apples and spices, perfect for parties or cozy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of egg roll wrappers
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a bowl, combine diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix well to ensure the apples are evenly coated in the sweet and spicy goodness. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Assemble the Egg Rolls: Take an egg roll wrapper and place a tablespoon of the apple mixture into the center. Carefully fold the wrapper according to package instructions, sealing the edges with a dab of water to keep the delicious filling snug inside.
  3. Heat the Oil for Frying: In a deep pan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). This is the perfect temperature for frying the egg rolls to a beautiful golden brown. Keep an eye on the temperature as you fry to avoid burning.
  4. Fry the Egg Rolls: Gently place the prepared egg rolls into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Once they’re perfectly crisp, remove them and let them drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve with a Sweet Finish: Dust the warm egg rolls with powdered sugar before serving. They are best enjoyed fresh, as the filling will be warm and gooey, complemented by the lovely crunch of the wrapper.

Notes

For a healthier version, consider baking the egg rolls instead of frying. Brush with oil and bake at 400°F for about 15-20 minutes.
