Ingredients

  • 150g almond flour
  • 150g powdered sugar
  • 100g egg whites
  • 150g granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Filling of your choice (e.g., buttercream, ganache)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar.
  3. Beat the egg whites until frothy, then gradually add the granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Add food coloring if desired and mix well.
  5. Fold the almond flour mixture into the meringue until combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a piping bag and pipe small circles onto a baking sheet.
  7. Tap the baking sheet on the counter to remove air bubbles.
  8. Let the macarons sit for 30 minutes to form a skin.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until firm and feet have developed.
  10. Cool completely before removing from the baking sheet.
  11. Fill with your chosen filling and sandwich together.

Notes

Keep macarons in an airtight container for up to 3 days; freeze for up to a month.
