Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until uniform.
  3. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs for about 20 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown.
  5. In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and ginger powder over medium heat.
  6. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and let it thicken slightly.
  7. Remove the meatballs from the oven and toss them in the sweet and sour sauce.
  8. Serve warm, either on toothpicks or over rice.

Notes

For a lighter option, use lean ground beef or a mix of beef and pork.
