Delightful heart-shaped pastries filled with creamy strawberry goodness, perfect for any gathering or quiet afternoon.

  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup diced strawberries
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet until 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cut out hearts from the rolled puff pastry using a heart-shaped cookie cutter and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, white sugar, vanilla extract, and red food coloring; mix until smooth.
  5. Gently fold in the diced strawberries.
  6. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese and strawberry filling on each puff pastry heart.
  7. Fold each heart in half and pinch the edges tightly to seal.
  8. Whisk egg and cold water to create an egg wash and brush it over the tops of each heart.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow cooling slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Serve with coffee or tea. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
