Delicious and moist banana bars that bring warmth and nostalgia, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Combine the mashed bananas, applesauce, melted butter, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Mix well.
  3. Whisk in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour in another bowl.
  5. Mix the dry mixture into the banana mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips if desired.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan before cutting into bars and serving.

Notes

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or up to a week in the fridge.
