Tender and juicy pork shoulder cooked low and slow, perfect for tacos and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 34 lbs pork shoulder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 jalapeño, chopped (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro for serving
  • Tortillas for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
  2. Season the pork with salt, pepper, cumin, and oregano.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic.
  4. Pour in the orange and lime juices, adding jalapeño if using.
  5. Cover and slow cook on low for 8 hours.
  6. Shred the pork using two forks and mix with the juices.
  7. Serve with warm tortillas and fresh cilantro.

Notes

Leftover carnitas can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to 3 months.
