A hearty and tender beef roast slow-cooked with caramelized onions, steeped in rich French onion soup flavors.

  • 3 to 5 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the beef roast with salt and pepper, then place it in the crock pot.
  2. Layer the sliced onions on top of the roast.
  3. Prepare the flavor enhancer by mixing the French onion soup mix, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl.
  4. Pour this mixture over the roast and onions.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender.
  6. Shred the roast with two forks and mix it back into the gravy.
  7. Serve garnished with fresh thyme or parsley.

Notes

For added depth, incorporate garlic or a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar. Leftovers can be used in sandwiches or tacos.
