A nostalgic Pineapple Upside Down Cake with caramelized pineapple and cherries, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 can pineapple slices
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)
  • Eggs (as directed on cake mix package)
  • Oil (as directed on cake mix package)
  • Water (as directed on cake mix package)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grab a round cake pan and generously grease it.
  2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave. Pour it into the prepared cake pan and sprinkle brown sugar over it.
  3. Arrange the pineapple slices on top of the brown sugar, covering the base completely. Place maraschino cherries in the center if desired.
  4. Prepare your cake batter as per the package instructions, mixing in eggs, oil, and water.
  5. Pour the fluffy cake batter over the pineapple and cherries.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cake in the pan for 5 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate to reveal the topping.
