A nostalgic and joyful dessert, combining sweet and tangy flavors with caramelized pineapple and buttery cake.

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 can (20 oz) sliced pineapple in syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter with the brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until smooth and bubbly.
  3. Arrange the pineapple slices and cherries on top of the brown sugar mixture in the pan.
  4. Combine the yellow cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and water in a large mixing bowl and mix until smooth.
  5. Pour the cake batter over the arranged pineapple and cherry layer.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cake for a few minutes and then invert onto a serving platter.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For moisture, substitute water with pineapple juice.
