Delight in these easy-to-make cheese danishes that capture the warmth of a grandmother’s kitchen with their flaky pastry and creamy filling.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 2-inch squares.
  3. Mix the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Spoon a small amount of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry square.
  5. Fold the corners of the square to the center and pinch to seal.
  6. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
