A delightful southern classic combining a buttery base with a rich cream cheese topping, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg in a mixing bowl. Mix until combined.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
  4. Beat the softened cream cheese in another bowl until smooth and creamy.
  5. Add the 2 eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture. Mix until fully combined.
  6. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake base and spread it gently.
  7. Slide the pan into the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

This cake can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerated for up to a week.
