A hearty, indulgent breakfast casserole that transforms leftover bread, eggs, and meats into a delightful feast.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of bread (white or brioche)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or cheddar)
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 cup sliced turkey
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cube the bread into small pieces and spread half of them evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Layer the diced ham and sliced turkey over the bread cubes.
  4. Add the shredded cheese on top of the meats.
  5. Top with the remaining bread cubes.
  6. Whisk together the eggs, milk, powdered sugar, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  7. Soak the bread layers with the egg mixture, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
  8. Bake covered with foil for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden.
  9. Cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and paired with fresh fruit or crispy bacon.
