  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Mix in the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
  4. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  5. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Mix the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

Ensure bananas are very ripe for the best sweetness. Don’t skip the cooling step to avoid a gooey mess.
