Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 3/4 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Add the oil and warm water; mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a ball.
  5. Roll each ball into a thin circle, about 1/8 inch thick.
  6. Cook each tortilla in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 30 seconds on each side.
  7. Wrap the cooked tortillas in a clean kitchen towel to keep them warm.

Notes

For an even softer tortilla, consider using a combination of all-purpose flour and a little bit of whole wheat flour.
