Delightful homemade tortillas that are soft, pliable, and perfect for any filling.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Mix your dry ingredients in a large bowl: combine the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Add the warm water and vegetable oil to the flour mixture.
  3. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Rest the dough by dividing it into small balls and covering them with a towel for 15 minutes.
  6. Roll out one dough ball on a floured surface into a thin circle, about 8 inches in diameter.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  8. Cook each tortilla for about 1 minute on each side.
  9. Keep the cooked tortillas warm in a towel.

Notes

Store leftover tortillas in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
