Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
  2. Add Vegetable Oil: Next, add the vegetable oil and mix until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Mix in Warm Water: Gradually add the warm water until the dough comes together.
  4. Knead the Dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 1 minute until smooth.
  5. Divide the Dough: Divide the kneaded dough into 8 equal pieces, rolling each into a ball.
  6. Flatten Each Ball: Flatten each ball into a disk, then roll out into a thin circle.
  7. Cook the Tortilla: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook each tortilla for about 30 seconds on each side.
  8. Keep Warm: Finally, keep the tortillas warm in a towel until ready to serve.

Notes

Store leftover tortillas in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Use warm water to help create a softer dough.
