A heartwarming dessert that combines creamy custard with cubed bread, bringing comfort and nostalgia to your table.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of cubed bread
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Optional: raisins or other dried fruits

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and milk, and soak for about 10 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well blended.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the soaked bread and gently fold to combine. Stir in optional raisins or dried fruits if desired.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with cream. Pairs well with vanilla ice cream.
