A rich and moist chocolate fudge cake perfect for celebrations and comfort.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until well combined; the batter will be thin.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
  6. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or ice cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
