A delightful homemade chocolate cake that transports you back to joyful celebrations and sweet memories.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry mixture. Mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until fully combined and smooth.
  4. Stir in the boiling water. Pour the batter evenly into your prepared pans.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool for about 10 minutes in the pans before flipping them onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or a week in the refrigerator.
