A warm and indulgent dessert that combines fluffy bread pudding with tart apples and rich caramel, perfect for autumn gatherings.

  • 6 cups cubed French or challah bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 cups diced Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
  3. Gently stir in the cubed bread and diced apples until evenly coated.
  4. Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish, pressing the bread down slightly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown and the custard is set.
  6. Let cool slightly, then drizzle with warm caramel sauce before serving.
