A festive Caprese Christmas Wreath, a colorful and flavorful centerpiece perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch fresh basil
  • 100g baby bocconcini balls, drained
  • 250g cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 30ml extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt flakes, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare Balsamic Glaze: Combine balsamic vinegar and honey in a saucepan, simmer until thickened. Cool.
  2. Prepare Main Components: Drain bocconcini, wash and dry tomatoes and basil.
  3. Season Mozzarella and Tomatoes Separately: Drizzle olive oil over mozzarella and season with salt and pepper. Do the same for tomatoes.
  4. Assemble Wreath Base: Arrange basil leaves in a circle on a platter.
  5. Place Mozzarella: Distribute seasoned mozzarella on top of basil.
  6. Add Tomatoes: Tuck seasoned tomatoes among mozzarella and basil.
  7. Layer and Build Volume: Continue layering basil, mozzarella, and tomatoes.
  8. Final Drizzle and Garnish: Drizzle balsamic glaze over the assembled wreath and add optional garnishes.
  9. Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning, serve at room temperature or slightly chilled.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, consider making components in advance. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
