Delicate French macarons with a crisp exterior and soft, chewy center. A foolproof recipe for delightful treats!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Filling of your choice (ganache, buttercream, jam)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Whisk the egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy. Gradually add granulated sugar and whisk until stiff peaks form.
  4. Combine the almond flour mixture into the egg whites until well combined.
  5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Tap the baking sheet on the counter to release air bubbles and let sit for 30-60 minutes.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes, allowing to cool completely before removing from parchment.
  8. Pair the macaron shells and fill with your desired filling.

Notes

Macarons are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze without filling for up to a month.
