A comforting and flavorful classic Italian dish layered with ground beef, ricotta cheese, and marinara sauce, baked to perfection.

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Add minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Drain excess fat.
  4. Mix ricotta cheese with egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl until creamy and well-combined.
  5. Spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, half of the beef mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and a third of the marinara sauce.
  7. Repeat layers ending with noodles and the remaining sauce. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Leftover lasagna can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. It freezes beautifully for up to 3 months.
