This quick and easy naan bread recipe results in soft, pillowy bread that pairs perfectly with any curry or stew.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Butter or ghee (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a larger bowl, mix the flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil to the flour mix.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rest for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into flat circles, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  8. Cook each naan for about 1-2 minutes on each side until puffed and golden.
  9. Brush with melted butter or ghee before serving.

Notes

Store leftover naan in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
